Pierre Mineau
Pierre has been a keen photographer since the age of 12 and is formally trained in classical B&W photography, sensitometry and darkroom techniques using small, medium and large format cameras. Pierre was part of the Ottawa photography collective ‘Image Canada’ and co-founder of a portrait photography company: ‘Imaginus’ also in Ottawa. He has called Salt Spring Island home since 2011. He has exhibited as a solo artist and in group shows in Ottawa galleries and on Salt Spring. Pierre’s work has found its way into several private collections. A wildlife ecologist and student of animal behaviour by training, a constant through his 50+ years of photography has been his love of shapes, texture and contrast to be found in wildlife and other natural subjects. In recent years, he has set for himself the goal of showing the artistic beauty in bird and insect photography.
