As a new immigrant from another country, I relished knowing what things and places intrigued Canadians on Salt Spring Island. I was fortunate to live near the Ganges Spit waiting for my small home to be built, a home I still live in and my first home I have ever owned. Seeing the canoe near the Salish Sea reminds me of the lands I left near the Pacific Ocean. I don’t miss it, for the canoe can take me wherever I want now. I am happy.
